Als die Zugf\u00f6rderung Strasshof im Jahr 1984 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt wurde, war sie die letze Zugf\u00f6rderung f\u00fcr Dampflokomotiven auf der Normalspur in \u00d6sterreich. In ihrer Erscheinungsform war sie in \u00d6sterreich aber seit ihrer Inbetriebnahme stets ein Unikum. Die Ursachen f\u00fcr diese Sonderstellung der Anlage, die komplexe Baugeschichte und die verh\u00e4ltnism\u00e4\u00dfig lange Errichtungsdauer, welche unter der Deutschen Reichsbahn im Jahr 1943 begann und erst im Jahr 1952 unter den \u00d6sterreichischen Bundesbahnen ein Ende fand, waren aber bis heute nie Gegenstand einer eingehenden wissenschaftlichen Untersuchung.<\/p>\n

Diese Arbeit setzt sich mit den Gr\u00fcnden f\u00fcr diese Sonderstellung der Zugf\u00f6rderung Strasshof auseinander und rekonstruiert das Projekt in all seinen Entwurfsphasen. Die Rekonstruktion wird in Kontext mit den geopolitischen Ereignissen des zweiten Weltkriegs gesetzt, in den die Errichtungszeit f\u00e4llt. Abschlie\u00dfend wird der Entwurf in die Evolutionsgeschichte der Bahnbetriebswerke eingeordnet und mit anderen projektierten Bahnbetriebswerken der Deutschen Reichsbahn verglichen.<\/p>\n
